Pot odds are the decision threshold, not your actual equity

When you call, you risk the call amount to contest the pot already in the middle plus your call. The break-even equity is call ÷ (pot before your call + call).

That percentage tells you how often you must win at showdown before future betting, rake, and strategic effects. It does not estimate your hand strength by itself.

What FlopForge computes exactly

For supported heads-up postflop states, the equity engine enumerates every legal opponent combination and remaining board completion permitted by the selected evidence model.

Known-hand mode conditions on two visible opponent cards. Weighted-range mode uses the range weights you enter. Unknown mode is a uniform legal-combination baseline, not a claim about the opponent’s real range.

• Card collisions are removed before enumeration.
• Ties contribute half the pot to equity.
• Exact equity is reported separately from approximate strategy output.

Why equity does not choose an action

A hand can have enough raw equity to continue but still prefer folding, calling, or raising after range interaction, future action, position, and bet sizing are modeled.
